Happy Winter to everyone!

We are currently winding down here at the Otesha offices in both Ottawa and Halifax, and reflecting on another amazing year. Great news has been pouring in as of late with a grant from the Walter Duncan & Gordon Foundation being awarded to the Coast 2 Coast bike tour, another from Greenstreet ( for some capacity building support, as well as an HRDC granthat we hope will make Jocelyn our official Triple-H Co-ordinator. Yipee!!

The Coast 2 Coast journey has been an amazing one so far, and we've been driven by an incredibly supportive community here in Halifax and across the country. Thank you! We look forward to playing and working with everyone in the coming year!

We are also currently accepting applications for Otesha 2005 Regional Tours. The application can be downloaded at or contact us for more info. Please also pass on this link to any young person you know who has hopeful-hooligan tendencies who is just waiting to revolutionize the roads!

Otesha is also hosting its first staff retreat in Ottawa between Christmas and New Year's - we can't believe there will be 12 Otesha staff in January! Not only will we celebrate the New Year together, but it will be a momentous occasion in Otesha's history and growth. Having such an amazing team makes us feel giddy with excitement and so very grateful!

In between finishing the Otesha book, and completing our end of year audit, we are also spending our time creating an amazing array of consumer-free holiday gifts: fair trade brownie mix in a jar; great second hand clothing finds; vouchers for dinners, monthly letters, tobogganing, and laundry doing; vegan fair-trade cookies; songs; scavenger hunts; booklets with info on our favorite outdoor weekend getaways... the list goes on. If you are still finding or making gifts as last minute as we are you can also check out this great site for more ideas: Or you can give someone the gift of supporting world changing activities in their name... With any holiday donations to the Otesha Project we will send your special someone hot-off-the-press book this February. : )

As a new year begins again, we wish you all a time of reflection, relaxation, and rejuvenation (Triple-R!).

May this find you looking forward with a hopeful soul, and hooligan heart.

Happy Holidays,

The Otesha crew
