Can’t join the East Coast cycling tour but still want to be part of the magic? We’re on the lookout for volunteers to help us during training week that runs from September 4-13 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Roles that need to be filled include:
  • Food Coordinator – sourcing food donations ahead of time and bottom-lining the cooking for the week
  • Play Director – leading play rehearsals
  • Co-facilitator – leading training week sessions alongside the Programs Coordinator
Honorariums are available for these roles! Please share these openings with anyone that might be interested. If you’d like to help out in these or other ways, please connect with Emma at programs@otesha.ca.

Pedal to Plate Cycling Tour wrap-up

A scorching heat wave couldn’t keep our Pedal to Plate Tour members from having one super cool adventure. This year’s journey took place from July 18-26 in the Toronto area, where our tour members got their hands dirty learning all about local and sustainable food systems.

Hugs, huzzahs and high-fives to our incredible tour members Susie, Julia, Shira, Howie, Emma, Emilie and Justine. And a special thanks to Ash Thackaberry for dishing out delicious meals and loads of love as the tour’s Food Coordinator!

Finally, our heartfelt thanks to everyone that made this tour possible, including host farms, guest speakers, bike maintenance facilitators, food donors and more! Whether it was sharing the road with us, breaking bread with us, or spraying us with the hose after a sweaty ride, you helped make the 2015 Pedal to Plate Tour a success!

Last word

“It was an amazing feeling, being 13 cyclists on the road moving forward together. We had dreams in common and a lot of differences, but no matter what, we were always together, cycling forward. We’d all stop for lunch together and lie on the ground, eating, laughing and telling stories. If someone was selling plums by the road we would be there. We all had a huge sense of adventure and curiosity, and that bonded us more than anything.”

— Kat Williams, 2008 Tour Member
